GORE RideOnCable Cable Systems feature Gore's patented, durable, low friction cable coating technology providing the smoothest, most precise shifting experience available for Tandem, Triathlon, Time Trial, and Full Suspension bikes. The system comes complete with 2 derailleur cables (front: 2200mm, rear: 3000mm) and 3000mm of 5mm diameter cable housing. Also includes 2 continuous liners, 2 GRUB Seals, precision machined ferrules (5 nickel plated brass and 7 anodized aluminum), and 2 crimp caps with RideOn Logo crimp cap covers. Cables double terminated to be compatible with SRAM/Shimano/Campagnolo Shifters.

I expected them to be good, and they exceeded my expectations. Front shifting especially went from being a bit difficult to practically effortless. I'm using these with SRAM X.0.I will say however that the instructions could be better. There's a video on the manufacturer's site, which is a lot better than the extremely minimal (worse than Ikea!) printed instructions I received. There are also some useful tips on their site specific to using these cables with a SRAM X.0 rear derailler, so I suggest you read their FAQ before you start cutting cables. Also, the grub seals I received were different than I've seen and I wasn't sure which I should be using and where. Despite the minor installation confusion I would highly recommend these to anyone. These things will pay for themselves in the amount of cleaning time you'll save, the increase of "slick" shifting, they last longer than regular cables and of course there's the cool factor.These cables are simply quite awesome. My SRAM XO shifter and derailleurs already had teflon coated cables (very clean before removal) and there is a noticeable improvement in the the feel of shifting. One thing I would caution, I had to go to the LBS to get an extra black ferrule as I needed the extra to complete all the seals properly on my MTB. One other word to the wise; make sure you use sandpaper to get the coating off the cables where you cinch to your derailleurs otherwise it just may slip out. Like these so much I'll be putting a set on the bike's wife come winter. |
