I like all of the Schwalbe tires I've tried so far (Rocket Ron, Racing Ralph, and Nobby Nic). Schwalbe's tires are a bit expensive, but are worth it when you factor in the quality of the tire and the low weight. I haven't found the Nobby Nic to be slippery on rocks and roots and they definitely hook up better on dirt than the Racing Ralph. Nobby Nic is tough, This review is from: Schwalbe 2010 Nobby Nic EVO Mountain Bicycle Tire (Misc.) I have ridden a pair of these for the past season and will most likely get another pair. I have had zero flats on the nic's. You really need to ride these tires at the lower end of psi to get the best performance. I rode on them at high pressure and felt the tire lost its cornering ability. I ride on hard pack, very rock terrain with lots of up and down and these tires performed well.  Very specific use, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Schwalbe 2010 Nobby Nic EVO Mountain Bicycle Tire (Sports) This tires are supposed to be very good, if you use them on the terrain and speeds they were designed for that is.My issue was that I took them to a new park where trails where not compacted yet so there was a lot of loose dirt and sand and I had gotten the 2.1 thin version of the tire and I was just too slow on certain tricky corners and fell a few times. There was also a lot of thorns the result of which was that I got two flats in a matter of hrs... If you are going to ride in a place where you know there are thorns get the snakeskin version, otherwise the casing is really, really thin. On the other hand where there was harder, easier ground these tires accelerated notably faster and rolled with less resistance than my 2.35 Kenda Nevegals. In short, based on my experience these tires have a little too much character. They are not as flexible (multipurpose) as they say in the Schwalbe marketing speech, at least not the 2.1s.
